Dr. William Clyde, UNH Professor of Earth Sciences
Ancient Wyoming: A scientific and educational journey through the geological past of Wyoming.
In the summer of 2011, a series of cores were drilled through late Paleocene-early Eocene sediments of the Bighorn Basin in Wyoming to study past short-term global warming events known as hyperthermals. During this project, Will Clyde and Kirk Johnson realized that the Bighorn Basin contains one of the world's most complete records of Phanerozoic earth history and decided to illustrate this history in a book called Ancient Wyoming. This talk will cover the golas and results of the Bighorn Basin Coring Project (BBCP) and present some of the artisitc landscape reconstructions that are the focus of the book.
